I just Rooted my Verizon GS3 from your Video titled::: How To Root Sprint/T-mobile/AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 4.1.1 & Install CWM – L710/T999/I535 SIII
Now I am about to follow these above directions for the cyanogenmod.

Now I never rooted before and my first was successfull and after I do the Cyanogenmod, what can i expect to do on my phone that i wasnt able to do on my phone before?? I got no clue what the hype is about rooting. can you point me in some direction so that i can have fun with this phone? Thanks for your help

    • Timbitman

Hi Freddie! Cyanogenmod is merely vanilla android, no manufacturer user interfaces ontop. Cyanogenmod also adds some neat customization features.

  • Alex

The AT&T won’t work it shows failed after installing

  • Alex

Dude, the link to the Tmobile CyanogenMod is not working! You just made me not want to root my S3 or install this 4.2 on it…. too much drama!

    • boosh

really not. i think this dude has made it as simple as can possible. it’s like rooting for dummies. unfortunately you do need to read what your downloading when you go to those sites. as if! everyone knows that lol. they just want you to download the “pay us money to do what you have to wait 4 to 10 secs to do now” software. Anyways rebel, make me your apprentice. I’m not worthy! LOL

Dude, I rooted my phone by following the steps on your root video and it went well. Then I came to this video and followed the steps but when I opened the zip file in my phone in download mode like you said, my android guy fell with a caution sign and doesn’t it says aborted. Tmobile :( what do I do???

  • slimgee

i installed cyanogenmod in hopes that it would function but now it appears my phone has been messed up. when i boot it up it jus stays stuck on a blue spiining circle reading cyanogenmod inside it but thats it…it doesnt go further than that…it jus stays loading. pleas help.

I was also having this problem. I simply went into recovery and selected the factory wipe. After that it worked perfectly.

  • Lewkmiller

how do I fix installation failed (status 7)

  • Eric Kinsey

I get a 404 error when trying to download the Verizon link.

  • Eric

you did well, kid. you did well.

    • Eric

I spoke too soon…followed your steps exactly except for one difference: i installed CM 10.0 stable instead of 10.1 nightly. Now it’s stuck on the CM loading screen exactly as slimgee described below…

      • Eric

Alright, I think I fixed it. Had to boot up in CWM recovery again and cleared dalvik cache, factory reset, and then cleared cache partition. I also made sure to use an older version of gapps since I’m only upgrading to 10.0 stable.

  • Marcus H.

So I’m on the brink of installing the new CGM, but before I do I’m curious where a ‘recovery’ option back to the original TMobile mod/root/core code might be. Or is this something I can just ‘save’ from within the root’ed phone/apps somewhere, before I go any further with the upgrade to the aftermarket mod?

  • Austin

how would i go about uninstalling root or this mod for my s3?

  • Jay

I’m having a problem… when I try to enter CWM recovery, my phone goes into Android System Recovery instead with the little android guy on the floor with a caution symbol. I’ve rooted my phone and I entered CWM recovery when I first rooted it, but it’s not working anymore! any suggestions?

    • rayraycarter4

reflash cwm recovery through odin!! that happened to me too im using verizon GS3

  • Rayyan Syed

    Tmobile link isnt working dude.

  • dude735

after i install cyanogenmod 10.1 and flash it, is there any way to get my contacts or apps back so i dont have to reinstall them?

    • Hieu Phan

You’re supposed to back everything up before rooting/flashing. I learned my lesson the first time i rooted my device. I lost all my contacts because it wasn’t working properly right after i rooted it.

  • papito

I don’t remeber what I did but I bricked my phone luckyly I fixed it

  • Eugene Tarasyuk
try to get it from here

  • michelle

T999 shows aborted (status 7). any suggestions?

this is the first time i’ve ever flashed a diff rom on a phone, and i’m stuck.

the root went smoothly; and initially it appeared that the cyanogenmod installed, but when the phone rebooted, it didn’t reboot into 4.2.1; the phone is still in 4.1.1, and keeps crashing on me

i’ve wiped the phone and cleared the cache and rebooted; and the phone just keeps crashing at diff points while i’m doing anything, at random

    any help is greatly appreciated

the videos here are easy to follow and seem relatively simple; i had no trouble following the rooting video

    but on this one….

btw, i’ve checked and downloaded the newest gapps and cyanogenmod 10.1 for my tmo phone, and tried the install again…no luck

  • GucciDiamond

When I press on install Tmobile it says link is out of date =/

  • chris
